WELCOME! I've been cycling through the Southeast Valleys of Wales since 2010 and I can't say (or show) enough about the place. I just love it. So if you've got the interest and would like to spend some time... sit back and let me show you some of the fabulous places I've discovered.

Remembering 55 for 55

It's hard to explain in many ways and I'm still wrestling with how to properly describe this event without falling into well-worn clichés and overt platitudes. However, this experience had a huge impact on me - not only for its prolonged physical aspects, but spiritually - it changed me.

A couple of my cycling buddies here in Wales have Parkinson's disease and I wanted to do something out of respect for their wonderful comradery. They have been highly influential and inspiring and quite simply, great guys to hang out with. I wanted to give something back and this was really the best way. It's how we met and it's what we share.

So... on March 01 2016, I began a personal cycling challenge to raise awareness on this incurable disease and more importantly; raise money. Having reached the ripe age of 55, I thought why not create an event that's completely unique and exploit this unique number for something else? Thus my "55 for 55" event was born.

It worked like this; I got on my bike and left the house everyday around 9:00 am, then cycled the same 55 mile route for approximately seven hours, retuning home at roughly 4:00 pm. The same 55 mile route every day for 55 consecutive days, for a total of 3,025 miles. And it was awesome.

The People
But aside from my personal experience, what really made this event so meaningful were the people that joined in. From those that contributed money to everyone that came along and rode with me, it was amazing, wonderful, fabulous. I had absolutely no idea that I would get the level of support and encouragement that I did. And it was beyond awesome.

Whilst I could pontificate on the personal meanings of my little event, what should be remembered mostly are the people that supported me. Take a moment now and check out the exceptionally fine folks that gave.
